במרץ 2016 נעם הנשיא אובמה בלה הוואנה מול קהל קובני אוהד, עם מסר של שלום, השלמה וידידות:

"Cultivo una rosa blanca.” In his most famous poem, Jose Marti made this offering of friendship and peace to both his friend and his enemy. Today, as the President of the United States of America, I offer the Cuban people el saludo de paz.

הקלרינטיסט הצרפתי / לבנוני איברהים מעלוף ממש התלהב מהאירוע והמילים החמות של אובמה והלחין את הקטע, כולל החלק הזה של הנאום. שיר מדליק ומרגש. מה גם שאת הפואמה הזאת של חוזה מרטי, אמא שלי הייתה מדלקמת לנו כשהיינו ילדים :-) , כך שזה מרגש אותי פעמיים.

וכך אומר השיר של מרטי:

אני מגדל ורד לבן ביוני כמו בינואר לחבר הכנה הנותן לי את ידו הפתוחה. ובשביל האכזר שקורע את הלב שאיתו אני חי, גדילן או סרפד אני לא מגדל; אני מגדל את הוורד הלבן

שיהיה לנו שבת שלום!

En marzo del 2016, el presidente Obama hizo un discurso en La Habana frente a un favoreciente publico cubano, con un mensaje de paz, amistad y entendimiento:

“Cultivo una rosa blanca”. En su poema mas famoso, Jose Marti hizo su ofrecimiento de amistad y paz a ambos: su amigo y su enemigo. Hoy, como presidente de los Estados Unidos de America, y le ofrezco al pueble cubano un saludo de paz”

El clarinetista Franco-Libanes Ibrahim Ma’aluf se emocionó con el evento y las cálidas palabras de Obama, y lo musicalizo, con discurso incluido. El resultado es un tema bello y emotivo! Y Además, mi mama solía recitarnos este poema de Marti cuando eramos chiquitos, por lo que este tema me conmueve por partida doble:

Cultivo una rosa blanca en junio como enero para el amigo sincero que me da su mano franca.

Y para el cruel que me arranca el corazón con que vivo,

Cardo ni ortiga cultivo

Cultivo una rosa blanca
